Sabres could deal a D-man
By Victoria Matiash
NHL teams looking to add a defenseman -- and there are several -- might want to give the general manager of the Buffalo Sabres a shout. According to the CBC's Elliotte Friedman, the Sabres seem open to trading one of their blueliners for the right return.
"... Teams are looking for defencemen and the Buffalo Sabres have eight. But Sabres GM Darcy Regier says he's told teams, 'Give me a reason to trade one.' So far, he feels he hasn't received a good enough answer ..."
Truth is, Regier may lower his asking price if the 3-6-1 Sabres continue to struggle. Conversely, a team in need of experienced blue-line help may become more desperate as the season wears on. No reason to make any rash moves at the moment.
While Christian Ehrhoff and Tyler Myers are locked-in long-term and likely staying put, both Jordan Leopold and Robyn Regehr are poised to become unrestricted free agents this coming July. We wouldn't be surprised to see the Sabres move one or the other.
