The St. Louis Blues are expected to start Brian Elliott in the next two games while the club's other No. 1 netminder recovers from a minor groin injury.
According to Lou Korac of NHL.com, Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock said Jaroslav Halak suffered the injury during Friday's 5-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.
"... Jaro Halak has a groin strain, put on IR. Jake Allen comes up from Peoria ... Elliott will start at least next two games. Hitch expects Halak to be ready by the weekend ... Hitch on Halak: 'The plan is to have him practice in full with us on Friday' ..."
The Blues host the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, and the Red Wings on Thursday.
