Isles may trade Streit
By Victoria Matiash
Playoff contenders in need of experienced blue-line help may want to give the New York Islanders a call closer to the trade deadline. Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun suggests Mark Streit could be available as the prototypical post-season 'rental'.
"... Once the New York Islanders are officially out of the playoff picture, expect D Mark Streit to get dealt. A lot of teams are looking for somebody who can move the puck and he's in the final year of his contract. Streit is well-respected around the league for his abilities and will likely get dealt for a second-round pick ..."
Of course, the Islanders can't be written off as a playoff team this early in the season. Especially since the club is off to a 4-2-1 start.
