Wisniewski injury
By Victoria Matiash
The Columbus Blue Jackets will likely have to manage without one of their top defensemen for a while. After slamming into the boards during Saturday's 4-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings, D-man James Wisniewski is believed to be nursing a concussion and other (leg, back) injuries.
Head coach Todd Richards tells the Columbus Dispatch that the rest of the Blue Jackets' blue line -- not just Jack Johnson, who played nearly 35 minutes on Saturday -- will have to help shoulder the extra workload while Wisniewski sits out.
"Wiz played over 20 minutes a night in all different situations," Richards said. "I don't think we can give Jack any more (minutes), so it's going to come down to other guys."
As long as Nikita Nikitin is able to return for Tuesday's contest with the Los Angeles Kings, the Jackets will manage with Tim Erixon and David Savard as subs for Wisniewski and Adrian Aucoin (lower-body injury). Otherwise, GM Scott Howson will have to bring in another body from the AHL, or outside the organization.
