Unheralded Hagelin?

By Doug McIntyre

John Tortorella doesn't think Carl Hagelin is getting enough credit.

The New York Rangers coach scolded local media members before the Blueshirts played the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night at Madison Square Garden for not voting the Swedish winger one of three stars of the Rangers 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday.(Michael Del Zotto, Henrik Lundqvist and Rick Nash were the players recognized).

Daily News beat writer Pat Leonard, who Tweeted about Thursday's incident moments after it happened, said Tortorella asked reporters if they "even watch the games."

But could Torts simply be trying to deflect attention from his criticism of Hagelin, whose "dumbness" in taking a penalty for too many men on the ice nearly cost the Rangers against Philly, according to the coach.
