Blues look to re-sign Pietrangelo
By Victoria Matiash
It seems the St. Louis Blues are actively working to lock up one of their top two offensive-defensemen for as long as possible.
Taking part in "Blues chat", Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch suggested the re-signing of Alex Pietrangelo is top of the Blues' to-do list, just ahead of re-inking Kevin Shattenkirk.
"... (Pietrangelo's) agents were in town last week, and while Shattenkirk is certainly a player the Blues want to reward and keep in the fold, Pietrangelo is the priority right now. It would seem the team would want the max on Pietrangelo (eight years) and something very close - if not identical - for Shattenkirk ..."
Both Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk are in the final year of their respective entry-level contracts. The salary cap isn't a concern for the Blues -- now, or in the immediate future.
