New role for Gilroy?
By Victoria Matiash
Defenseman Stu Bickel may not be the only member of the New York Rangers' blue line to skate as a forward this season.
As discussed by Andrew Gross of The Record, coach John Tortorella suggests he might eventually consider using the "offensive-minded" Matt Gilroy up front as well. And Gilroy is said to be very open to that opportunity.
Bickel is expected to compete as a forward while Ryan Callahan sits out with an injured shoulder. At least, to start. Meanwhile Gilroy could sub in for Bickel if Tortorella doesn't go with Steve Eminger instead. Gilroy has yet to suit up for the Rangers this season.
