UPDATE: Broad Street Bull reports Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Andrej Meszaros could play in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
The Flyers' D-man appears to have gained in confidence since team practices got underway.
Defenseman Andrej Meszaros (torn Achilles) should be considered questionable, at best.
CSNPhilly.com reports Meszaros may not be ready for the start of the 2012-13 season -- even though he's been medically cleared and skating since November. The Philadelphia Flyers' blueliner is hesitant about re-joining competitive action after tearing his right Achilles tendon last summer. The squad should get a better sense of Meszaros' state (physical and psychological) in the next few days.
As it stands, if the 27-year-old isn't able to go, Flyers GM Paul Holmgren may feel compelled to add a D-man via trade or the free agent market. Particularly since Erik Gustafsson is nursing a foot injury, and Marc-Andre Bourdon is suffering from a concussion. The Flyers can only hope Gustafsson doesn't miss much of the regular season, if any.
