Bachman's season debut on hold?
By Victoria Matiash
Dallas Stars backup Richard Bachman will likely have to wait until February to make his first start of the season. As discussed by Mike Heika of the Dallas Morning News, Kari Lehtonen is expected to make his second start in as many nights, Tuesday, versus the Detroit Red Wings.
On the upside, the 25-year-old goalie appears fully fit and ready to go after a much-needed post-lockout tune-up in the AHL.
"I think it helped a lot, more to just get the rust off than anything," Bachman said. "There were no morning skates in the first three games, so that's different. I was just trying to catch my breath, and try to keep up with the speed, but I feel like I'm right back to speed now. The last two games felt great, and the game had slowed down. It’s good to get the rust off."
Bachman is 3-1-0 after four AHL games (2.46 goals-against-average, .916 save percentage). AHL goalie Cristopher Nilstorp -- currently suffering from a groin injury -- was No. 2 to Lehtonen to start the NHL season.
