Visnovsky nearing return?

By Luke Lapinski

It appears Lubomir Visnovsky's return to the NHL might not be all that far off. According to his agent's twitter feed, the veteran defenseman will be back no later than Feb. 11.

That would be a nice boost for the New York Islanders, who acquired Visnovsky from Anaheim over the summer. The club set out to strengthen its blue line in the offseason, but most of the additions ended up being prospects who likely won't make much of an impact this year. The Isles are 2-2 at the moment, and have a few decent offensive weapons up front alongside top talent John Tavares. If Visnovsky does, in fact, suit up for New York and perform anywhere near the level he was playing at when he averaged nearly 52 points per season from 2005-06 to 2010-11, he could fill a major need on Long Island.
