Kings could trade for D-man

With Matt Greene and Willie Mitchell injured, the Los Angeles Kings are a little light in the blue-line department. Even when Mitchell returns, there will still be a void to fill on defense. Which is why ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun suggests Kings GM Dean Lombardi may have hit the point where he's willing to trade No.2 goalie Jonathan Bernier for the right return. To the Toronto Maple Leafs, perhaps?

And the Kings are really high on Bernier; they view him as a franchise goalie in the making, so they’re not moving him unless they get what they want. All of which makes things intriguing with word that Toronto came calling over the past month kicking the tires on Bernier. Could Toronto offer up the D-man the Kings need? Hard to say. But the Leafs are one of the few teams in the league that boast real depth on defense, nine NHL blue-liners at the ready right now ..."
