Gomez' role with Sharks

By Victoria Matiash

Now that the one-year, $700,000 deal is signed and sealed, the San Jose Sharks have to figure out what to do with veteran forward Scott Gomez.

David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News suggests a third-line role with opportunities to contribute on the power play could suit the 33-year-old center.

"We think of Scott as a guy who can add speed to our lineup, certainly has some tremendous puck skills and some poise with it," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said, adding Gomez should see some minutes with the man-advantage.

While we shouldn't count on seeing Gomez in the Sharks' lineup for Thursday' tilt with the Phoenix Coyotes, a debut against the Colorado Avalanche or Vancouver Canucks over the weekend could be in the cards.
