Big loss for Kings
By Victoria Matiash
The Los Angeles Kings could be without defenseman Matt Greene for the rest of the regular season. Suffering a back injury in the Kings' opener, Greene was placed on injured reserve Monday. Sportsnet's Nick Kypreos suggests Greene won't play again until the playoffs -- at the earliest.
This is a huge blow to a Kings' blue line already missing Willie Mitchell (knee surgery). If Mitchell isn't fit to compete soon, GM Dean Lombardi could look to the free agent or trade market to bring in an experienced defensive body.
For now, the Kings have recalled D-man Andrew Bodnarchuk from the AHL Manchester Monarchs. Bodnarchuk or young Jake Muzzin could draw into the lineup for the Kings against the Colorado Avalanche Tuesday.
