Backstrom's return (update)
By Victoria Matiash
UPDATE: This only serves as additional evidence that it's difficult to make educated guesses during the playoffs. As it stands, Minnesota Wild goalie Josh Harding is pegged to start Game 5 against the Chicago Blackhawks, while Darcy Kuemper is expected to dress as back-up. (Michal Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune).
Wild coach Mike Yeo on Harding: "We don’t know how he feels, but you have to trust him, and he says that he is good to go ..."
*** Down in the opening playoff series three games to one, the Minnesota Wild could get a boost in net for Game 5. Michael Russo of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune assumes goaltender Niklas Backstrom will start Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks. Good timing, considering the Wild's No. 2 netminder was forced from Game 4 after the first period with what looked like a leg injury.
Backstrom -- out since the warm-up for Game 1 with a lower-body injury -- changed out of his street clothes to back up No. 3 Darcy Kuemper in the third period of Tuesday's 3-0 loss after Josh Harding fell hurt. Unless Harding is in much better shape than suspected, Kuemper will dress as Backstrom's backup Thursday.
