Hutton's debut in net for Hawks
By Victoria Matiash
Rookie goaltender Carter Hutton is pegged to make his NHL debut for the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday. The Chicago Sun-Times reports Corey Crawford is due a break after five straight starts, and Ray Emery remains out with a lower-body injury.
Hutton finished 2012-13 for the AHL Rockford IceHogs with a 26-22-1 record, 2.72 goals-against average, and .908 save percentage. The 27-year-old has spent the better part of the last four seasons bopping around the AHL and ECHL.
Crawford won't be alone in getting the night off ahead of the postseason. With the top spot in the West locked up (like, ages ago), the Blackhawks are expected to sit other prominent members of the roster. "We might look at resting some guys," coach Joel Quenneville confirmed.
