Spezza ETA (update)
By Victoria Matiash
UPDATE:Forward Jason Spezza appears to be making real progress. Here's the latest on his recovery from the Ottawa Senators:
"... Spezza has progressed past the 'public skate' portion of his rehab and is on to the next phase ... he won't be ready to return until he is practicing with the team in a normal capacity ..."
Leading the Montreal Canadiens three games to one, the Senators can take their time with bringing the star forward back up to speed. If the Ottawa club advances -- and the odds appear pretty favorable at this point -- we may see Spezza return in the second round.
*** Unless the Ottawa Senators enjoy a long playoff run, Jason Spezza (back) won't compete again this season. Despite his recent return to light skating, the star forward still appears far removed from seeing game action. (Ottawa Sun)
"He's just at the public skating part," said coach Paul MacLean. "He's not even close to joining the team, I don't think."
Spezza has been out since undergoing back surgery in late January. He was only supposed to miss six to weight weeks, but suffered a setback during his recovery.
