Rielly could be back
By Victoria Matiash
Sent back to his junior squad by the Toronto Maple Leafs late this week, 18-year-old defenseman Morgan Rielly could still see some pro action this season.
“I don’t want to put (a) player in a situation where he possibly could regress," Leafs coach Randy Carlyle said, as reported by the Toronto Sun. "And that was our message to (Rielly), that he did nothing wrong. He has NHL-quality skills. Does he need to work on some things? Sure, he does. His body makeup and his body size, he is an 18-year-old kid. Depending on how his junior team (does), we have the right to bring him back, to the Marlies or here, we said you are going to see us shortly again. It is part of process of developing young players into NHL players.”
In other words, if the Moose Jaw Warriors don't make a playoff run, Rielly could get the call this spring. The Warriors are currently tied for last place in the WHL's Eastern Conference.
