Redden's role with Blues
By Victoria Matiash
Don't expect to see Wade Redden in the lineup when the St. Louis Blues host the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday. But Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch proposes the newly-signed defenseman could compete when the Blues face the Nashville Predators Monday.
“He’s obviously missed the NHL the last couple of years,” said coach Ken Hitchcock. “We’ll see where he gets up to speed-wise, but I know where he’s been skating, I know the drills he’s been doing, I know how hard he’s been working. He’s in great shape ... You don’t know whether a guy is going to be a good player or struggle until you get to see him play a few games. But I know on smarts alone, stick-positioning, ability to make little plays, he’s a good player.”
When ready to go, Redden could replace Ian Cole in the lineup, while Jeff Woywitka "will probably be sent to Peoria". Colin White was released from his contract on Friday.
