Ottawa's plan to land Perry
By Doug McIntyre
The Ottawa Sun's Don Brennan has an interesting theory, one that ends with impending unrestricted free agent Corey Perry wearing an Ottawa Senators jersey this July.
The current Anaheim Ducks star was drafted into the NHL by current Ottawa GM Bryan Murray, and Brennan believes the relationship between the two men, owner Eugene Melnyk's stated desire to win the Stanley Cup in the near future, Anaheim's reluctance to trade Perry while they're a legitimate a Cup contender, and the likelihood that Perry would thrive on a line with Sens playmaker Jason Spezza, are all big reasons why the forward will make Canada's capital city his home when his contract with the Ducks expires.
Money, of course, will also be a huge factor.
"If Melnyk wants a championship as much as he lets on," Brennan writes, "he must be prepared to offer Perry a deal he can't refuse."
