Where will Lain end up?
By Doug McIntyre
If TSN's Bob McKenzie is correct, towering (6'6") Lake Superior State center and unrestricted free agent Kellan Lain could be snapped up by an NHL team withing the next couple of days.
But where, exactly, could Lain end up? There's never a shortage of teams looking for help in the middle, and Lain's size is sure to intrigue a number of clubs.
One that could be interested is the Vancouver Canucks, who are in desperate need of a quality pivot after being without Ryan Kesler and Manny Malhotra for much of the season. The only question is if Lain, who had 16 points in 32 games with the Lakers this season, is ready to make the leap from college to the NHL right away.
Chris Kreider's success for the New York Rangers in last year's playoffs after being signed out of NCAA champ Boston College could prompt Vancouver to take a chance. Then again, it's possible that Kreider's struggles this season will make them think twice.
