Hayes' role with Hawks
By Victoria Matiash
In his NHL season debut, Jimmy Hayes will get the plum chance to make a really big impression. According to the Chicago Tribune, Hayes is expected to skate on a second line with Patrick Kane and Dave Bolland when the Chicago Blackhawks face the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday.
"(Kane's) a really good player," Hayes said. "I just have to stick to my game, be big, physical and use my speed. You just want to make sure you go to the net and just try to get open for (Kane). He's playmaker."
The big winger was recalled from the AHL Rockford IceHogs Tuesday. If he holds his own, Hayes could stick with Kane and Bolland for a good stretch. The 23-year-old is filling in for Patrick Sharp -- who's out another three weeks (or so) with a shoulder injury.
