Connolly let loose
By Victoria Matiash
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to part ways with Tim Connolly.
As per Darren Dreger, the Maple Leafs will reportedly put the 31-year-old center on waivers Thursday.
"... Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice. It's expected Connolly will be placed on waivers. More opportunity for players in system ..."
Connolly is in the final year (cap hit: $4.75 million) of his contract. If the veteran forward isn't snagged, James Mirtle of the Globe and Mail suggests Leafs GM Dave Nonis could move Connolly in the same way he dealt Matthew Lombardi Wednesday.
"... If Connolly goes unclaimed, my guess is Nonis attempts to make another move retaining salary, as he did with Lombardi.
There's little doubt now thet Nazem Kadri will skate with the Leafs full-time this season. Unless the young forward is traded, of course.
