Green could be out a while
By Victoria Matiash
The Washington Capitals may be without Mike Green for a substantial period. According to the Washington Post, the defenseman's groin is still a bother and the Capitals want to conquer the issue once and for all. That may take some time.
“It’s obviously concerning because of his past history,” Capitals coach Adam Oates said. “We need to really get this correct.”
“It’s just not quite feeling right. He played a couple games, got hit a little bit. It’s just not quite right, so we’re taking a step back until he heals,” Oates added. “It’s the type of injury where you think you’re good. Until you get really, truly bumped, you can’t really tell.”
Back on the injured shelf after playing two games this past week, Green missed 41 games in 2011-12 with a lingering groin strain that led to other complications (abdominal tear/sports hernia surgery). It's understandable why the Capitals want to invest the necessary healing time.
