Canes looking to trade for D-man
By Victoria Matiash
Remember when the Carolina Hurricanes were so stocked with blue-line talent, they were shopping D-men? Well, those days are long gone. With Joni Pitkanen, Tim Gleason, and Jamie McBain out hurt, the Hurricanes are reportedly looking to bring in, not ship out, an experienced defenseman. And soon, according to USAToday's Kevin Allen.
"Look for the Carolina Hurricanes to trade for a veteran defenseman over the next few days."
The Toronto Maple Leafs are rumored to be open to offers (John-Michael Liles?), while the Edmonton Oilers are reportedly actively trying to move Ryan Whitney. And with Brendan Smith, Kyle Quincey, and Carlo Colaiacovo returning to health, the Detroit Red Wings could also be interested in forging a deal.
