Healing Wings
By Victoria Matiash
Now the Detroit Red Wings may have too many healthy defensemen. Too many as far as Ian White is concerned, anyway.
MLive.com reports White is pegged to sit as a healthy scratch while Brendan Smith and Kyle Quincey are poised to return for Thursday's tilt with the Los Angeles Kings. And Carlo Colaiacovo (shoulder) could make a healthy comeback as early as this weekend.
"I hear there’s a rumor that (Colaiacovo) might be ready to go on Sunday," coach Mike Babcock suggested.
The player himself isn't ruling out the possibility.
"I'm definitely feeling a lot better every day," Colaiacovo offered. "Right now, mentally the guideline for me is to shoot for Sunday and use these next couple of days to really test it and see if it's a real possibility."
In the third year of his entry-level deal, Brian Lashoff is likely to be sent down to the AHL once there's a full slate of healthy blueliners. And, unless he gets the chance to smarten up soon, White could be spending additional time in the press box.
