Timetable for Meszaros?
By Luke Lapinski
The Philadelphia Flyers could really use a boost on the blue line right about now. And they might get one soon. According to Sam Carchidi of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Andrej Meszaros could potentially return to the lineup at some point this week.
At the moment, Peter Laviolette's squad sits one game below .500 at 9-10-1. They've played better of late, but they're clearly allowing more goals (3.05 per game) than they'd like. In fact, only one team that's currently in a playoff spot (Tampa Bay) has yielded more offense to the opposition so far. Ilya Bryzgalov is naturally going to be blamed for some of that, but the Russian netminder has actually played pretty well for some stretches -- at least earlier in the season. What the Flyers need right now is a stabilizing veteran presence in the defense corps. And, if Meszaros really is close to recovering from the shoulder ailment that has forced him to miss the club's last 16 games, he might be able to provide it.
