Del Zotto could be hurt
By Victoria Matiash
The New York Rangers may be without Michael Del Zotto for a bit. According to the New York Post, the defenseman could be out a while with what appears to be a hip injury.
"... With 9:27 remaining in the third period of Thursday night’s 3-2 shootout loss to the Senators, Del Zotto took a hard hip-check from Marc Methot and went down in pain. With the Rangers on the power play and the puck deep in the zone, he hobbled to the bench, seeming to favor his right hip. After a couple minutes of being looked at by the training staff, he went back to the locker room and did not return for the rest of the period nor the overtime ..."
As for more detail, don't expect much from John Tortorella. The Rangers head coach isn't a fan of waxing on about the physical issues plaguing his players. If Del Zotto isn't able to compete, look for the club to dress the other six of seven defensemen who played Thursday. And Steve Eminger -- down in the AHL for a conditioning stint -- might be recalled.
