Eaton could still land back with Pens
By Doug McIntyre
Just because former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Mark Eaton was released from his professional tryout contract with the Pens' AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre (Penn.) on Wednesday doesn't mean the big club has closed the door on resigning him.
That's the word from Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, who reports that the 35-year-old Eaton -- who won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2009 -- "absolutely is a legit candidate to be signed."
Eaton spent 2010-12 with the New York Islanders. He recorded four points in 62 games last season.
