Wings shuffle power-play units
By Victoria Matiash
The Detroit Red Wings power play will have a slightly different look all around for Tuesday's contest with the Nashville Predators. According to MLive.com's Ansar Khan, coach Mike Babcock did some shuffling during Monday's practice with the intent of playing Mikael Samuelsson on the point on the top unit with defenseman Niklas Kronwall. Beyond that, the head coach still has some decisions to make.
In practice, the secondary unit consisted of F Valtteri Filppula, F Daniel Cleary, F Damien Brunner, D Ian White, and D Jakub Kindl. The rest of the primary assembly was made up of F Henrik Zetterberg, F Pavel Datsyuk and F Tomas Tatar. But Babcock may not be completely at ease with playing the diminutive Tatar in front of the net.
"The idea of good hands and can make plays in front is great, but then when I saw him try to get a puck with Big E (Jonathan Ericsson), that'll be (Shea) Weber tomorrow," Babcock said. "Guess what happens?"
Our guess: Nothing good, as far as the Wings are concerned. So consider Tatar a "maybe" for the top unit on Tuesday.
