Halak's next start
By Luke Lapinski
It appears Jaroslav Halak will likely make his first start since the beginning of the month in the coming days. The St. Louis Blues' top netminder was on the bench in a backup role yesterday, after dealing with a groin injury for the past few weeks. According to the team's website, he figures to get the nod in one of the upcoming back-to-back contests -- either Tuesday against San Jose or Wednesday in Colorado.
Of course, the 27-year old's return gives Ken Hitchcock three quality goalies to balance now. Halak and Brian Elliott combined for the best numbers in the league last season and were the main catalysts for the Blues' monster turnaround. Elliott has struggled this year though, while Halak (3-0, 2.10 goals against average) was impressive again before getting hurt. Meanwhile, rookie Jake Allen has stepped up in a big way, seizing the opportunity to play and running with it to the tune of a 3-0 record.
