Offers for O'Reilly
By Victoria Matiash
It may be only a matter of time before restricted free agent Ryan O'Reilly is moved by the Colorado Avalanche. Even O'Reilly's teammates appear resigned to that outcome.
Confirming the Avalanche is listening to trade offers for O'Reilly, Mike Chambers of the Denver Post suggests the mood within the Avs dressing room is one of reluctant acceptance. On behalf of some players, in any case.
"Ryan's a good guy. He plays hard. He's a team guy. It's tough. You don't want to speak bad about the guy," winger Cody McLeod said Wednesday. "It's too bad they can't come to an agreement. And if that's the case, if he is going to be traded, I guess that's just part of the business."
"We've heard things, but it's out of our control," center Paul Stastny said. "Obviously, it's (on) your mind. We've played with him for three years. He's a big part of this team. But when it comes to the business side of hockey, sometimes things like this happen. It sours a relationship, ruins a relationship. Whether that has happened or not, who knows? But as a good buddy, you hope for his success, and you hope you get something in return, someone who can make an immediate impact."
TSN's Darren Dreger recently reported a "strong interest" in O'Reilly from teams in the East.
