Pandolfo nearing deal?
By Luke Lapinski
Jay Pandolfo has 14 years of NHL service to his name. And he's hopeful he could be closing in on a new deal to add to that total.
The 38-year old winger has been skating with the Boston Bruins on a professional tryout -- since training camp. And this weekend, he traveled with the club as they prepared for their game against Buffalo. That could be taken as a sign that they may be getting closer to officially picking him up. The organization has some cap space open now, after dealing away Tim Thomas. And Pandolfo could give the Bruins some forward depth as someone who could feasibly help with the penalty kill if needed. Plus, he has ties to head coach Claude Julien from their time together in New Jersey.
Joe Haggerty of CSN New England notes that Pandolfo would likely head to Providence first if he were to reach a deal with Boston. That would allow him to get back into the rhythm of seeing some live game action before jumping in and playing at the NHL level.
