John Russell/NHLI/Getty ImagesPredators pivot David Legwand may soon be plying his trade for another team. With the league on its Olympic break, NHL rosters are frozen. Once the Olympians return from Sochi, there will be a small window in which teams can make their moves for the stretch run.
In order to prepare for the frenzy ahead of the trade deadline, we at Rumor Central will look ahead at the top trade targets by position. Cap hit information provided is from CapGeek.com.
To get things rolling, let's look at the top centers rumored to be on the block:
1. David Legwand, Nashville Predators
Age: 33 | 2013-14 cap hit: $4,500,000 | UFA: 2014-15
Legwand, the Predators' first-ever draft pick (No. 2 overall in 1998), is one pivot who has generated significant buzz in the rumor mill in recent weeks. The Preds hit the break just four points back in the wild-card race out West, and how they perform in the early post-break games may determine whether Legwand stays or goes. He also has a no-movement clause, which may complicate things, as there is some belief that he would prefer to stay in the Midwest.
