We're trying something a little different on the NHL Rumor Central blog as the month of August dawns. Part of that change is a new "Morning Links" update, which will bring you a roundup of the latest buzz on all the usual fronts -- a quick-hit section to get your morning rolling with the latest news and analysis from all over the league. More to come, but without any further preamble, here are the links for Aug. 1:

Gary Bettman wants to bring an NHL team to Seattle, possibly as soon as 2014-15. An expansion NHL team.

The Flames have brought back a significant defenseman from 2012-13 on a two-year deal. Some believe that the team's status as a "rebuilding" team actually attracts up-and-coming players.

Teams in need of an extra scoring punch will have to look elsewhere than Zigmund Palffy. The Slovak legend has elected to retire at age 41.
