Days after making what has been described as a "favorable impression" on New York Rangers general manager Glen Sather, it appears former Vancouver Canucks coach Alain Vigneault is en route to the Big Apple -- literally.
Vigneault was reportedly spotted boarding an early morning flight to New York Friday (via Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun), and while the exact nature of his visit isn't clear, it's not a stretch to assume he could be inching closer to being hired as the Blueshirts new bench boss.
Earlier this week, Vigneault met with Sather in California, but while word was the GM was impressed, Larry Brooks of the New York Post said an offer to replace the fired John Tortorella did "not seem imminent."
But Brooks noted that could change if the Dallas Stars, which also interviewed the Quebec native for its coaching vacancy, made "a time-sensitive offer to Vigneault."
