By re-signing goalie Michal Neuvirth to a two-year, $5-million extension, the Washington Capitals may have spent themselves out of the running to re-sign one of their coveted unrestricted free agents-to-be. Katie Carrera of the Washington Post reports the Capitals have under $6-million of salary cap space -- barring other transactions, of course -- to play with for 2013-14. Not nearly enough to re-sign a couple of restricted free agents and ink forward Mike Ribeiro to a new deal.
