Few would be overly surprised if the Buffalo Sabres decide to part ways with long-time general manager Darcy Regier this offseason. Despite a change in ownership and influx of cash to spend, the squad continues to struggle altogether (a playoff berth this season would be a miracle). Sure, they've enjoyed more success under coach Ron Rolston since Lindy Ruff was canned, but that change may only take them so far. Following the trade of Jason Pominville at the deadline, Regier himself admitted to the Buffalo News that the club lacked a "foundation". So, ESPN.com's Scott Burnside proposes -- educated suggestion more than rumor -- that a former Sabres' great and Hall of Fame inductee could serve well as Regier's replacement.
