Canucks' demand for Luongo

Close, but no cigar. According to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun, the Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs weren't far apart in consummating a deal that would see Roberto Luongo head east. So much so, the netminder was yanked early from Wednesday's practice to officially waive his no trade-clause, just in case. However, Vancouver's reported asking price of a Maple Leafs' netminder and two second-rounders was still too steep for GM Dave Nonis.
