Laviolette on thin ice?

If the free-falling Philadelphia Flyers lose their next two games, head coach Peter Laviolette could pay for it with his job, according to Tim Panaccio CSNPhilly.com.

If it comes to that following tonight's home game against the New Jersey Devils and Monday's tilt at the Tampa Bay Lightning, general manager Paul Holmgren would presumably be the one wielding the ax for owner Ed Snider. But Panaccio believes Holmgren, and perhaps Snider himself, are as responsible for the team's malaise as the man behind the bench.

"The Flyers fictional belief that they could land all three big-time free agents last summer was laughable," Panaccio writes on the website hockeybuzz.com.
