UPDATE: Wowza. Matt Read heals fast.
"... Read playing is just insanity. He can't shoot without pain. Will be interesting to see how [coach Peter Laviolette] uses him ..."
The Philadelphia Flyers could have Matt Read back earlier than anticipated. According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Read's recovery from torn rib cage muscles is ahead of schedule -- and the winger expects to play "much sooner than expected". He was able to endure some contact during Monday's practice.
Hurt Feb. 20, Read was expected to miss about six weeks altogether. Now it looks like the 26-year-old could be back in action before mid-March. As long as he doesn't suffer a serious setback.
"It's getting better," Read said after Monday's skate. "It's not 100 percent yet. In skating, I feel it. In shooting, I feel it. But it's definitely getting better every day."
Mike Knuble should re-claim a spot in the press box once Matt Read is ready to compete.
