UPDATE: As confirmed by Tom Gulitti, Bryce Salvador is the new captain of the New Jersey Devils.
With the regular season set to launch shortly, the New Jersey Devils are expected to name their new captain in the next few days. Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger suggests a veteran defenseman could be considered the frontrunner for the honor.
"I have a sense of who will be the captain," Patrik Elias said. "I would think Sal."
