Another GM option for Jets

By Tim Kavanagh

As of Monday, it appeared that the New York Jets' search for their next GM was now centered on three candidates: former Bears GM Jerry Angelo, current Jets assistant GM Brian Gaine and Steelers director of football and business administration Omar Khan. But, according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, there's another option in the mix.

Per Schefter, Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik is scheduled to interview Wednesday for the Jets' vacancy.

There are a number of factors that could be prolonging the Jets' search -- the fact that the new GM is stuck with HC Rex Ryan, a tight salary cap situation and a significant problem at the QB position -- but there are only so many of these opportunities available each offseason. There is some belief that the club will have made its decision by the end of this week.
