O-line calls for the Giants

By Tim Kavanagh

The New York Giants had an improved offensive line in 2012 compared to 2011 -- their rushing total was up, and Eli Manning's sacks were down -- but in order to build upon that success they've got some work to do this offseason.

Starting LT Will Beatty is an impending free agent, as is starting LG Kevin Boothe and backup RT Sean Locklear. In his forward-looking post regarding the Giants' O-line, Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com writes that Beatty, 27 years old, is perhaps the biggest of the club's impending free agents. But getting Boothe and Locklear (who filled in ably when David Diehl was out) re-signed would also be a positive step.

The Giants don't generally ink big-name free agents, so don't expect to see the likes of Jake Long, Branden Albert, Sebastian Vollmer or Andy Levitre with them in 2013. However, using a high draft pick to bolster their depth -- and possibly find a replacement for Diehl at RT -- certainly seems possible.
