More buzz on JPP
By Tim Kavanagh
Now that Victor Cruz has signed his RFA tender, the biggest cause of stress for New York Giants fans this offseason is the health status of DE Jason Pierre-Paul. JPP underwent back surgery earlier this offseason, and when back injuries are involved, there's no certainty as to how long the recovery will take. As a result, we've been focusing on the contingency plans for the Giants in the event that Pierre-Paul is not available for the start of the season. There's now some reason to believe that those ponderings on contingency plans have been for naught.
"I speak to him all the time," Justin Tuck said of his D-line mate, via ESPNNewYork.com. "[He's] doing well. ... Everybody is [also] telling me he is doing well. I have seen him walking around and doing his rehab stuff."
Tuck also confirmed his belief that Pierre-Paul will be ready to roll by the start of the season. On the chances that he's not, Tuck will be paired up with Mathias Kiwanuka at DE, with Adewale Ojomo, Damontre Moore and Adrian Tracy filling in behind. There's been no indication that the Giants have any intention of signing a veteran FA, though that bridge may be crossed if JPP experiences a setback.
