Nate Irving a 2013 starter?
By Tim Kavanagh
The Denver Broncos were eliminated in their postseason opener for 2012, so they'll hope to push a little farther in the twilight of Peyton Manning's career over the ensuing seasons. One question that they'll need to answer for 2013 is just who exactly will be the starting middle linebacker, and one option is 2010 third-round pick Nate Irving.
Mike Klis of the Denver Post notes that Irving will be just 25-years-old in July -- very young compared to Keith Brooking, who will turn 38 this fall -- and will cost quite a bit less than D.J. Williams ($550,000 compared to $6 million).
Klis confirms that Irving will at least get a shot to compete for the starting gig this offseason, and it could lead to the end of Williams' tenure in Denver if Irving impresses.
