Green Bay's next returner
By Tim Kavanagh
With the exodus of Greg Jennings this offseason, the Green Bay Packers will be leaning on Randall Cobb to play more of a role for them as a receiver, and that may mean that his role as a return man is diminished (or completely eliminated). But the team has yet to identify who will be stepping in to replace him on returns. Here's what we know now thus far, with a battle in training camp set to determine the final choice.
According to Mike Spofford of Packers.com, the competition is wide open right now. One option is WR Jeremy Ross, though Spofford acknowledges that Ross will likely have to make the roster at wideout in order to be in the mix (he won't be kept solely as a returner). Other options include rookie RB Johnathan Franklin as well as rookie CB Micah Hyde. The scribe also indicates that the team could go back to Cobb to some degree, though this would probably not be the preferred outcome.
