Non-Leach FB options for Giants
By Tim Kavanagh
Of all the teams reportedly in the mix for Vonta Leach, the New York Giants have perhaps the greatest need for a fullback, seeing as starter Henry Hynoski is recovering from knee surgery, and could miss the start of training camp; in fact, Dave Hutchinson of the Star-Ledger wonders if Hynoski will be ready by the start of the regular season. So what's the plan if they don't land Leach?
As we know, TE Bear Pascoe worked in at fullback during spring practices, and he may do a bit more of that once the pads come on in training camp. But the team could also reach out to add another full-time fullback prior to camp. Some other FA options include Corey McIntyre, Ahmard Hall and Ovie Mughelli.
It's not immediately evident that the Giants will necessarily target one of these other FBs should their pursuit of Leach fall through (as many expect him to sign with Miami), but it's a bridge they may cross in the coming weeks.
