E.J. to the Panthers?
By Tim Kavanagh
When one considers the Carolina Panthers, the No. 1 need that comes to mind isn't "Quarterback." (Offensive line, safety, a coaching staff that actually uses their multi-millionaire RBs, etc., would come before that). But with Cam Newton's primary backup Derek Anderson likely taking himself elsewhere for 2013, that means the Panthers do have a vacancy at QB2, and they may want to upgrade from Jimmy Clausen.
Will they target FSU product E.J. Manuel in the draft?
Manuel himself thinks they should. "I see a lot of myself in Cam, as far as being able to run and throw the ball," Manuel noted at the Senior Bowl this week, per the Charlotte Observer. "I think it would be a good fit."
Manuel is projected by some to be a mid-round pick, but things could change between now and the end of April.
