Former No. 1 ready to return
By AJ Mass
NFL.com reports that former No. 1 overall draft pick JaMarcus Russell is attempting to make a comeback.
Russell is only 27 years old, but last attempted to make an NFL roster in 2010, after which time, off-the-field issues made him a bit of a pariah. However, Russell says he's ready to prove to the league that he has turned things around, and while he currently weighs over 300 pounds, his goal is to drop to 265 pounds in an effort to prove his dedication to the sport.
It's hard to imagine any team taking Russell seriously after so much time away from the league. However, if he does reach his goal, he may well shed his reputation for being "the biggest loser" as he sheds those unwanted pounds. We'll weigh in again when we see him reach his target.
