Cowboys' remaining RT options
By Tim Kavanagh
Stretching back to the start of the offseason for the Dallas Cowboys, there has been a lot of discussion as to what exactly the team plans to do with Doug Free. At one point, the Cowboys felt strongly enough about the Northern Illinois product to sign him to a four-year, $32 million deal. In the time since, he's been shifted from LT to RT, and from starting RT to part of a platoon at the position with Jermey Parnell. While there has been talk that he'd simply be released if he didn't agree to a pay cut, the Cowboys have been losing replacement options left and right over the past few weeks, the latest of which was Tyson Clabo, who agreed to a deal with Miami on Sunday. So who's left?
With Clabo and Andre Smith out of the picture, the best remaining options are Eric Winston -- who is reportedly seeking up to $4 million per season on a contract -- and Winston Justice. Justice has not worked out for the Cowboys yet, while Winston did have a visit but the two sides were unable to agree to terms.
The other option is to simply go forward with Free remaining on the roster, either as the starter or again working in rotation with Parnell. We'll find out over the next few weeks.
